I chatted with a couple of Aastra executives about being "born again" after Response Point - the Microsoft small business telephone system that was withdrawn from the marketplace. Here are my field notes.
Microsoft’s recent announcement put the final nail in the coffin of Response Point has left many RP resellers high and dry: 1) it casts a cloud over any pending or recent RP sales, and 2) it leaves them with a hole in their portfolio. Fortunately Aastra has solutions that address both of these points:
1) Aastra has developed software that allows Aastra RP phones to be reflashed to support open standard SIP:
· Customers may choose to do it now and covert to a standards-based platform, or
· At least it will give them assurance that if they buy a RP and want to change it out in the future their investment in the phones is protected
· Simple procedure
2) Aastra also offers the AastraLink Pro as an alternative for resellers to sell
· Addresses the same market (up to 50 users)
· Based on open source Asterisk platform
· Feature-rich including Visual Voicemail, Voicemail-to-Email
· Easy to install and manage
· Supports open standard SIP phones –both Aastra’s and others
· Sign up for a free webinar June 23 which resellers can attend to learn more about both the product and the opportunity with Aastra; go to www.aastrausa.com/aastralink-pro and click on Webinar Sign-up tab
· By signing up for the webinar potential resellers are eligible for a special promotional pricing on an AastraLink Pro bundle
