One of the true geek givers in our community, David Houston, has passed away in his hometown of Dublin Ireland. I have so many stories to share about David that I don’t even know where to start. I have been to Dublin several times and each time, David was there to welcome and assist me in any way that he could. And he assisted me in ways that able-bodied people could not, for David was handicapped as the result of an accident and confined to a wheelchair. But that wasn’t his issue and
he didn’t allow it to become a road block in life. Minutes after meeting David on my first trip to Dublin – I realized I had just been “friended” by a great person. The last time I saw David was my last visit to Dublin 16+ months ago. He picked me up the airport, parking his car and meeting me ion the airport in baggage claim. Later we had a pint of Guinness and a great meal. This was December 2007 and I hosted a workshop in Dublin at the local Regus office.
David is shown in the lower center of the photo.
My accolades only grow stronger as I write more about David. He ran a successful and competitive reseller/consulting practice. His reputation with customers and the community was outstanding! He served as the long-time co-chair for the worldwide group of Windows Small Business Server user groups (Scott Cayoutte is the other co-chair). David truly gave more than he took from the SMB community. I miss him much already. Please join me in giving your respects. And join me in tipping back a pint in memory of David – he’d appreciate it!
