Various news outlets reported late yesterday that Kevin Lynch, Adobe’s System’s CTO jumped ship to Cupertino, CA, for Apple.
According to reports on both Reuters and CNET, Lynch will begin his tenure at Apple this Friday, and will be working with Bob Mansfield, Apple’s senior VP of Technology. According to the Reuters report, Mansfield is charged with leading Apple’s wireless and semiconductor group.
According to Lynch’s executive bio as it appears on the Adobe Web site, Lynch joined the company in 2005 by way of its acquisition of Macromedia, and was focused on the company’s technology innovation across three vectors: multiscreen, cloud and social computing. Tasked with overseeing Adobe’s Research and Experience Design teams, Lynch also inspired the creation of Macromedia Dreamweaver and its move to Web publishing.
The Reuters article also added the Adobe will not be filling Lynch’s vacated CTO post, once he assumes his new position at Apple this Friday.
Interestingly enough, Lynch’s departure comes off on a high note as Adobe reported yesterday that its Q1 revenue (ended March 1, 2013) was $1.008 billion, exceeding its targeted range of $950 million to $1 billion. The company also reported that it achieved strong revenue growth with Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions in its Digital Marketing business.
