On November 20, 2014, the Sahar Education for Afghan Girls Organization held its annual fundraiser at the Foundry in South Downtown, Seattle, WA. This organization, formerly known as Ayni, changed its name to Sahar, which means “dawn” in Dali, the most commonly-spoken language in Northern Afghanistan.
“The fundraiser was a great success, due in part to the professional skills and contribution of SMB Nation team members, Jenny Hallmark and Edna Sparkman,” said Ginna Brelsford, Executive Director of Sahar.
Team Jenny members were on the scene to help the organization’s Executive Director, Ginna Brelsford, put on a memorable evening for the 150+ attendees. The goal of this event was to raise money to build schools, computer centers, and provide teacher training for young women in Afghanistan. This year’s event featured guest speaker Eliza Griswold, an award-winning American poet and journalist.
