FedEx this week announced the start of is small business grant contest, which will award a total of $50,000 to ten small businesses. There will be a grand prize of $25,000 for one small business, while four 1st place winners will receive $5000.00 each, and five 2nd place winners will receive $1000.00 each.
Small businesses with less than 100 employees are invited to create a profile for their organization that will tell their story. Entries must be received between January 6, 2014 and 11:59 pm (Eastern) February 9, 2014 to be counted. The profile will then be voted on by Facebook users between January 16 and February 23, 2014, with FedEx selecting the top 100 profiles to move on in the contest on February 26. FedEx explained that the number of votes each profile receives will play a role in whether or not the company moves forward in the contest. Finally, the winners will be announced on March 24, 2014.
“Small businesses represent more than 99 percent of all employer firms. They drive the global economy and are an absolute vital part of the success of larger companies such as FedEx,” said Raj Subramaniam, executive vice president of Global Marketing at FedEx Services. “We are happy to show our support of the small business community by providing grants to help enable their success.”
