It seems that lately when we hear about big business concerning the CEOs of top companies, it usually refers to something negative and/or about a big payday they received for their efforts. However, with Lenovo, that’s not the case…in fact, it’s quite the opposite. If you want to shift gears, let’s talk about a tech giant that is based on literally sharing its wealth with its employees.
It was reported this week by USA Today, as well as several other media outlets, that Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo’s chairman, said he will share his $3.25 million bonus he received with approximately 10,000 Lenovo employees in China and 19 other countries.
According to various media reports, this was confirmed by Angela Lee, Lenovo’s Hong Kong-based spokeswoman. According to an article in yesterday’s USA Today, Lee confirmed “that 8,500 to 9,000 of the staff who will receive bonuses are in China, with the rest in the U.S., Japan and other countries. All will receive the same amount and all hourly manufacturing staff will receive a payment.”
"As you can imagine, an extra $300 in a manufacturing environment in China does make an impact, especially to employees supporting families," Lee was quoted as saying in the USA Today article.
