NYC-Based Precision IT Appoints New CEO, David D’Arcy to Step Down

tony2It was announced earlier this week that David D’Arcy, Founder and CEO of NYC-based IT solution provider firm Precision IT will step down from the top post at his company. Taking over will be Anthony L. Butler (pictured), the company’s current VP of Sales who will serve as acting CEO, effective immediately.

Regarding the changing of the guard so to speak, D’Arcy had this to say. “After nearly ten years, I’ve decided it’s time for me to step away from the day-to-day operations,” he said. “We have mutually agreed that this is the right time for a leadership transition. I’m grateful to all of our clients, partners, and employees for the support and commitment they’ve given to Precision. I remain committed to the company and look forward to serving as VP of Finance.”

D’Arcy founded Precision IT in 2004, and since then, the company has grown to be a top 100 IT company nationwide. I actually had the opportunity to meet with D’Arcy (well virtually) when Gavin Garbutt, the recently retired CEO of N-able, told me that D’Arcy was someone I should speak with and get to know; Garbutt said he was someone to watch in our industry, and we would definitely be hearing more about him.

Shortly after Garbutt told me this, I reached out to Marie Rourke of WhiteFox Communications, who represents N-able on the marketing and communications side. Rourke put me in touch with D’Arcy, and he ended up being a guest (via Skype) on a talk show I hosted at the time for Zenith Infotech’s MSPtv brand.

Since then, I had heard both D’Arcy’s (and Precision IT’s) names come up quite frequently at industry events and in various industry blogs and communities…that being said, I’m glad Gavin introduced us, and I had the opportunity to learn more!

With Butler taking the CEO helm immediately, he has been with Precision IT since 2012 as VP of Sales and Marketing, and according to Marc Pantoni, Precision IT’s president, Butler has proven to be a solid choice to lead the firm.  “In the short time he’s been at Precision, Anthony has proven the company won’t skip a beat under his leadership,” Pantoni said. “I am extremely excited about Anthony’s vision and leadership at the helm of Precision. He is the right leader for the company and I am confident our explosive growth and great service will continue for another 10 years.”
