SMB Nation Launches Worldwide, 30-City Modern Tour

Singapore March 14 2014SMB Nation has successfully launched a worldwide tour visiting over 25-countries and 30-cities in Q2 2014. Led by Harry Brelsford, Jay Weiss and Sharon Fry, this tour has already visited Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with stops in Manila, Hong Kong and São Paulo this week.

The Modern Tour is an invitation-only partner event focused on devices, Windows 8.1, Office 365 and Windows XP migrations. At each location, top Microsoft resellers are nominated for the privilege of attending a four-hour executive briefing presented the SMB Nation team. The goal is to empower these elite partners to hold customer-facing events that result in more sales and partner revenue.

Typically starting at 2pm local time, the event presents the touch device story featuring a device bar, supplied by tour sponsor Intel. Then the conversation subtly features Windows 8.1 in unexpected ways. For example, tour attendees in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur have already been dazed-and-amazed by the Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro Miracast Wireless Display Receiver (each attendee receives one of these killer app gadgets). After a break, the conversation shifts to Office 365, the next killer app suite from Microsoft. Next is the migration conversation that highlights the world wide Windows XP migration opportunity (yes there will be great customer work after April 8, 2014!). And the day ends with advice on holding customer events similar to the Microsoft Community Connections program in the US to earn more business.

Kuala Lumpur March 17 2014SMB Nation’s own Jay Weiss kicked off the tour in Singapore last week, and brought us some very interesting info, including:

  • Singapore has the highest concentration of Mensa members in the world, at over 3000.
  • Singapore has less than 2% unemployment.
  • This is now the most expensive country in the world in which to live.
