Vonage Holdings Corp. recently announced that it is poised to acquire Phoenix, AZ-based UCaaS company, Telesphere. Telesphere, a privately-held company that has been in the Cloud space since 2006, has been recognized in the Unified Communications space by Gartner (Magic Quadrant) and TMC for its UCaaS solutions.
So what’s the gain for Vonage? Well, with this acquisition, Telesphere will become “a Vonage Company,” and its advanced UCaaS solutions will be integrated into Vonage’s Business offering. These services include advanced call center solutions, HD Video Conferencing, Mobile Office and a Collaboration Suite. Although traditionally, Telesphere has been in the market with larger SMBs (their average seats per client is 40), this acquisition will broaden the size of business able to benefit from the company’s solutions.
Clark Peterson, CEO of Telesphere, recently spoke about the reasons behind the acquisition: “Vonage already has a strong leadership position in hosted cloud communications and SaaS solutions through Vonage Business Solutions. Our two businesses complement each other well and will fortify Vonage's scale in the high growth market for unified communications. As UCaaS continues to evolve and adoption grows among businesses of all sizes, Vonage and Telesphere will be at the forefront of this growth. I am very excited about our future together.”
This acquisition is currently slated to cost Vonage $114 million in cash and stock.
