World Backup Day 2014

World Backup DayGood morning, SMB Nation Community! I received word from our contact at Acronis that today marks the 4th Annual World Backup Day, on which IT Pros, SMB business owners and enterprises all take a pledge to back up their most important documents.

According to the World Backup Day page at:http://www.worldbackupday.com, 113 phones are lost or stolen every minute and 29% of all data loss disasters are complete accidents. In addition, 30% of the public has never completed a backup. The site above offers tips on places to do backups, from a simple external hard drive, to an internet-based service.

“Most consumers aren’t aware that a majority of their daily life -- the information they’re creating digitally -- is unprotected and at risk of being lost permanently. From photos to work documents, the amount of data we’re creating each day is huge, and it’s vulnerable. Since many of us don’t think about backing up digital information until it’s too late, World Backup Day is a great reminder to spend some time making sure that our digital lives are safe and secure. While there are some good, standard options available on most desktops and laptops, many popular cloud tools aren’t enough to ensure complete protection or fast recovery of data. Consumers should benefit from a full system image backup solution to their digital lives and apply the "3-2-1” backup rule. That means that people should have 3 copies of everything they care about, in 2 different formats, and 1 copy offsite. This is easy, quick and affordable for all users,” said Nat Maple, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Global Consumer/SOHO, OEM and Online, Acronis today.

The World Backup Day initiative encourages you to take the pledge and back up your files today!
