DIGITAL INCLUSION ROAD TRIP REPORT!

Geek Speak

We did it. SMB Nation teamed with like-minded stakeholders to do good. The Digital Inclusion Technology Drive Road Trip 2021 visited five cities on a drive from Seattle, WA to Austin, TX to collect used hardware from MSPs to donate to Digititunity, a national non-profit that collects and repairs used hardware to then distribute to underserved communities such as remote learners, etc.

The road trip idea was very simple. In the five major cities (Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Austin), SMB Nation had a safe outside pop-up drop-off at high Noon to collect used hardware. We kept it safe with masks up and other safety protocols.

So how did we do it?  With the support of PC Matic, Lenovo and ZPI, we were connected with Digitunity non-profit partners in each city to gather and donate “the goods.”  These local partners included Interconnection (Seattle), CMIT of Boise and Computers for Kids (Boise), TechCharities (Salt Lake), Net Sciences and Computer Based Learning (Albuquerque) and Mission Bridges, AustinFreeNet and L&M United Homes (Austin).

Will we do it again?  Hopefully!  Everyone felt this was a worthy cause and helps address the digital divide that has only widened this past year in the pandemic. Feedback needed if you’d like to support another road trip and what cities should we visit?!?!

Here are pictures from each city!
