A nation nation today we're with Paul Green from MSP marketing across the pond in the UK. How're you doing, Paul?
Paul Green
Very good. Thank you. Thanks for having me on the show. It's awesome to be here.
Harry Brelsford
Great. Great. You know, it's it's kind of funny how I met. Yeah, I'm assisting someone in the industry with some help helping them as a developmental editor on their book. And they mentioned they had interviewed you on a podcast. And I'm like, Man, I I don't think Paul and I have met, which is kind of goofy, because we're running in the same circles.
Paul Green
I know. It's weird, isn't it? And I've been in this world only for six years, obviously, you've been in this world for 600 years. No offense intended. But yeah, it's surprising how, you know, almost every, every, every month, I'm meeting someone new, it's often it's names that I've heard of a lot, but I've never actually met. So your name has come up, you know, perhaps once a month over the last last five, six years or so. But it's lovely to actually jump on a podcast and talk to you in revenue.
Harry Brelsford
Alright, so what is MSP marketing? What's What do you do?
Paul Green
So it does what it says on the tin, we help MSPs with their marketing, so we don't do it for them. If you go to PaulGreensMSP marketing.com, that's a site that's full of free information and advice on how to do your marketing. So my 10 second story is I'm not a tech, I'm a Marketing Guide. So I used to, I started as a journalist and a radio presenter, sort of back in the day. And then I started my first marketing company in 2005, which I sold in 2016. We were operating in some very specific verticals. And I had a five year non compete agreement, which only ran out, I think, was last year. And so I couldn't work with all the sectors I've been working with. And I looked at when I'd worked with just general businesses, and which of those Did I enjoy the most? And I remembered it support. Well, that's, that's a good segue. So I'm going to I'm going to go back and work with those people. And in that time, the business model had changed and break fix to manage services. And I say, I've been here six years now, and I absolutely adore it. So I am a self labeled MSP marketing expert. If you want to generate leads, warm those leads up, turn those leads into sales meeting, do better sales meetings, then we've got a bunch of free stuff for you at PaulGreensMSP marketing.com.
Harry Brelsford
Yeah. And do you have any, any other quirks in your business model? Like territorial restrictions? Do you just have one customer per county kind of thing? Or are we take all the customer customers can get?
Paul Green
If only No, so we our actual paid service is called the MSP marketing edge where we provide content and tools to MSPs, which they can use to do their marketing. And you exactly rightly say hurry, we only sell it to one MSP per area. So we have like a territory lock? Because I'll tell you why. If I mean, it's a ton of incredibly good marketing. But if you've got five MSPs in the same area using it, it just wouldn't work. It would it would be obvious to the prospects that that wouldn't work. So yeah, we only work directly with one MSP per area. But all MSPs worldwide can benefit from the free stuff.
Harry Brelsford
Yeah, yeah. No, that's cool. What's next? What's next? Do you go to events? What? Where might people see you? And again, assuming we'll get back to normal, but what's what's next for you?
Paul Green
Yeah, no. So I need to come to the US because about two, we got 600 paying members of the MSP marketing edge and around two thirds of those are in the US. But Janelle, I haven't been to the US. I was in LA in 2007 2008. And that was the last time I was in the US because because of COVID. You know, it's it's, we only launched in the US a couple of years ago. And this whole COVID thing has thrown out. So yeah, I am desperate to I'm going to get on some start getting on some planes, if not later this year, the next year. It'll be awesome. I think I you know, I'd like that maybe I should come out for a year and just go and do all the conferences and just live in the US for a year. That would be a pretty epic year, I think.
Harry Brelsford
Now, there you go. You can try me down here in Austin, Texas. We're kind of in the center of the country, if you will. So it's nice to fly west or east try. Yeah,
Paul Green
yeah, unnecessarily. Isn't there a big gun is a big Film Festival in Austin as well. Isn't that? Yeah, it starts
Harry Brelsford
today. So South by Southwest starts today. They run I'm I'm attending. I still get press passes. So I'm attending not all 10 days I'd be exhausted. But there's very specific days that are interesting to me. So yeah, it is a big deal. It's tech startups, films. Music, you know, it's kind of a collaboration. Yeah.
Paul Green
Can I can I stay at your house then Would that be okay,
Harry Brelsford
there we go. Yeah, I'll keep the light on and but no, seriously, it's a must do. It's a must do event. Alright, Paul was sure enjoyed kind of getting to know you better and less and B nation getting to know Yes. So keep up the good work.
Paul Green
Thank you. Thanks very much for having me on. All right.
