Kaseya today announced availability of Release 9, which adds a brand new mobility management solution, as well as the launch of Kaseya’s
I’d like to start this article with a friendly reminder about Kaseya: their team is focused purely on the SMB sector. In addition, for the past 18 months, the company has been consistently rolling out product portfolio updates via its innovative agile development methodology. These updates are oftentimes based on feedback from the Kaseya user community, and what they want in a solution. The approach here is more “how do people want to use technology,” as opposed to “this is how you use it.”
Enter Kaseya Release 9. As mentioned above, this release introduces two major items: a brand new, built-from-the-ground-up Mobile Management solution, as well as the new Private Cloud Infrastructure. Let’s start by looking at the new Enterprise Mobility Management solution (EMM).
As many of you remember, Kaseya previously had standalone BYOD and MDM offerings. Through customer feedback, their development team came to the realization that customers really want a solution that’s: easy to use, easy to set up, and can secure all devices in a single package. I want to say again that this solution is completely brand new technology from Kaseya, and has been designed to allow complete control of business devices. In addition the Mobile Management solution has been integrated into the Kaseya VSA for management of all parts from a single dashboard.
How do they secure it? Well, Yogesh explained that the new solution uses AES-256 Encryption and SSL protection, as well as encrypting containers. This means that data is protected at rest and “in flight.” There are also consistent, pre-defined policies in place for the IT team to utilize.
Pricing for the new Mobile Management solution is $10.00 per user per year up front, or $1.00 per user per month. “Security needs a price that will allow SMBs to use it,” said Yogesh in our interview. He explained that this model, based on users, not devices, is just for that reason. This means that a user can have 5 devices, all of which can be secured via the EMM solution.
The other part of Release 9 is the New Kaseya Private Cloud Infrastructure. Yogesh started this part of the conversation by letting me know that there are over 2,000 customers on the company’s existing cloud, and that 60% of all new customers are choosing cloud technology. The updates released today have enhanced scalability and reliability in place to meet customers’ growing needs.
Much like the EMM solution, Kaseya developed the new Private Cloud Infrastructure from the ground up. In addition, this infrastructure was also built to work with the Kaseya VSA.
So what’s in it? Well, Kaseya has built an architecture with a Perimeter Shield with two firewalls, Edge Server Cluster (for faster performance), an App Server Cluster, ITM-PaaS, a DB Cluster and a virtualization platform. All of the technology belongs to Kaseya, as the team did not want anyone who was neither authorized nor authenticated to access the system. (See the photo right).
