3. They need something that is easy to manage. Not all school systems have dedicated IT staff, so the data protection software should be easy enough to use that it can be handled by a staff member who is not an IT expert.
4. Scalability. Data is growing exponentially in educational systems just like everywhere else.
5. Encryption, and password protected encryption is a plus. Schools and universities handle private student information on a daily basis, and they have an obligation to keep it private once it has been backed up.
