A lot of O365ers forget that LinkedIn originally started as something of an employment site before the world really thought “social media.” I’m active in several Office 365 groups on LinkedIn, including the “Microsoft Office 365” group, which is fast approaching 45,000 members. So given I post often on O365 topics to these LinkedIn groups, it’s only fitting I divulge how you can get an Office 365-related job! Read on.
What started out as a typical analyst visit to a company in the Office 365 “industry” grew into something much more special. Sure, industry leader BitTitan is doubling both its office space and headcount in 2015, but the how is important. Geeman Yip has grown a “real company,” as we like to say on Wall Street. He’s also grown organically, much to the chagrin of investors and lenders. That is, he hasn’t grown by begging or borrowing but by the old fashioned way: cash flow from innovative solutions. BitTitan is best known for its Office 365 migration tools.
But as you can see and hear in this video, Geeman shares the secret sauce on how to get hired at BitTitan. Hint: Let the job find you as part of your interviewing process.
I can attest that, having visited BitTitan a couple of times in my analyst role, it’s got a good vibe. Seems like the kind of place you might just like to work for and capitalize on the Office 365 opportunity.
Jobs Growth
Taking a broader view, you can assert that a rising Office 365 tide raises all ships. As part of my research, I created a Boolean search string inside LinkedIn to report all open Office 365 jobs to me. In just one week, the number increased nearly 13% from 314 openings to 354 openings. I guess my feeling is this. If you can’t get an Office 365 job today, then perhaps you don’t want to work (at least not in the Office 365 field). Finally, you can re-read my recent blog on the coming Office 365 talent shortage. While good for the O365ers seeking higher wages (it’s a supply and demand thing), it’s going to pose challenges for BitTitan and other leading Office 365 ISVs and OEMs seeking top talent.
