IBM recently introduced a new range of systems designed to handle extensive computational data more efficiently than comparable systems; IBM’s new systems handle computational data at almost 20 percent better price/performance than competitor's processor-based systems. .
New IBM technologies are integrating member technologies from the OpenPOWER Foundation , including NVIDIA’s GPU accelerator technology.
“Our open innovation business model and approach to OpenPOWER will disrupt technology providers that offer closed, proprietary solutions produced within the walls of one company,” said Doug Balog, General Manager, Power Systems, IBM Systems & Technology Group. “Today’s announcement provides clients with a greater choice to help them gain the fastest, deepest insights to solve their business problems.”
Additions to the POWER8 portfolio include the: PowerS824L; IBM Data Engine for NoSQL; IBM Data Engine for Analytics—Power Systems Edition; Power E870 and E880 Enterprise Systems; and Power Enterprise Pools.
General availability is planned for October 31. More information about the new systems is available here .
