Pandemic Business Models: Entrepreneur v Employee

Business Speak

I have a simple question: Would you rather be an entrepreneur or an employee right now?

My answer is simple – I’d rather be an entrepreneur. There are a lot of reasons to this.

First of all – it’s the only life I know except for a few brief stints as an employee (and probably not the employee of the month if you know what I mean LOL).

Second – I love how entrepreneurs have amazing agility to pivot rapidly to remain relevant. Sure both entrepreneurs have awoken to the cluster of all clusterfucks this past month. But we entrepreneurs can tweak our business models and cost structures faster than a once comfortable and coasting employee who worked as a cog in the machine at the Boeing Company for 20+ years. I think its far easier to find the next gap (e.g. by a remote office setup/installer technican) than look for another job in a secular industry. Third – I have entrepreneur ego. I love signing the front of the paycheck, not the back of the check.

Fourth – The sheer and utter madness of being an entrepreneur is akin to starting each day in a pandemic. As one with ADHD (not as bad as when I was a kid), I thrive on CHAOS!

Finally – here are some resources about how work is changing and, again, I’d offer we entrepreneurs  have the upper hand as many of us have worked from
