At the recent IT Nation Connect 2024 event – I spotted a rarity – a young MSP. Tye Fowler is a real go-getter from Tampa, FL and he proactively walked up to me after a keynote as he saw my legacy Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 golf shirt and thought I worked for Microsoft LOL. We bumped into each other a few times and I invited him to the ProofPoint reception that early evening before he hopped on a flight to Atlanta.

Tye Fowler 00:21
I'm doing well. How you doing? Harry, good?
Harry Brelsford 00:23
YES! Well, let's start with Tampa, Florida. So what's, what's the story? You're an MSP,
Tye Fowler 00:28
yes. So we're MSP partner, SGD communications. We're based out of Tampa, Florida. We started back in 2003 Oh, wow. Yeah. We are a low voltage company that provides services. Must have been six years old, right? Well, yeah, so my father actually started to come back in 2003 and so we're really excited again. We partner with a lot of MSPs when it comes to network infrastructure and being able to provide those low voltage fiber options for them.
Harry Brelsford 00:58
Great. I know you have to run to the airport to go to Atlanta, so I'll make it quick. So like I said, you're, you're the one and only real attendee I've had a chance to talk to first time you've been here.
Tye Fowler 01:12
This is my first it nation Connect. My my first actual conference was the it nation secure. Oh, okay, this year.
Harry Brelsford 01:20
Okay, cool. And you know, several 1000 people to say the least. How'd you like the show?
Tye Fowler 01:26
I loved it. I mean, from the very beginning, the creativity that connect wise is built Tony Hawk being in there. Yes, yes. I grew up as a big fan of Tony Hawk, just seeing his hearing his story, and being able to get a relevant story from him, and just connecting, it has been amazing. Yeah,
Harry Brelsford 01:45
that's good. And then you, you came up to me, folks, he saw my Small Business Server jacket, came up to me. We became fast friends. So I'm assuming because you're extroverted, you're personable, which is good, yes, that's rare in our industry. But have you had a chance to meet other people?
Tye Fowler 02:06
Yes, yes, I've actually had a chance to meet other vendors, meet other MSPs, ask them questions and get you know their perspective based upon where they are. I mean, there are people here from all over the globe, so the stories have been phenomenal.
Harry Brelsford 02:20
Yeah. So, so, Tye, what I'm going to do my podcast. Always have a little mini blog beneath them, right? You know the format? Mm, hmm. So, with your permission, I'll put your LinkedIn profile, okay, so people can contact you. Because, folks, I'll end on this. This is exactly what we need. You know, I had the conversation half a dozen times. You know, myself and others included, we're aging out of this industry, right? I don't even want to tell you how, and a lot of us are doing other things. A lot of us are retiring. I'm not really a retirement guy. I work, you know what? I mean? I get up in the morning at work and but it's a problem. The demographics are a real we're we're not having enough babies. It's kind of the bottom line. Okay, yes, sir, yes, sir. So, well, hey, we're going to stay in touch with you. I'll certainly see what other connect wise events, I actually had a talk with them about going to secure. I've not gone. Okay, wow. Yeah, I thought that's like in June or something. Yeah, it is in June. Yeah, yes, yeah, so I'll see you there. Well, safe travels. Thank you, sir.
Tye Fowler 03:26
